After a brief hiatus (because the squirrel that is responsible for publishing the blog was out of town in a hotel with no WiFi... in 2015...::technology::), we're back with another member spotlight!  Lindsey is a regular in our evening classes and has been doing CrossFit for almost a year now (and dude, look at the 53 lb. kettlebell she's swinging in those photos - holy strength!)  She is super sweet and a ton of fun - and fairly new to Pittsburgh!  Also, she loves breakfast so much that her favorite movie is about a club of people who love breakfast.  That's the plot of that movie, riiiiiiiight?  Learn more about Lindsey, and be sure to say hi to her next time you're in class together!

1.  Hey there!  Where are you from? 

I'm a West Virginia girl. Born and raised! I moved to Pittsburgh with my boyfriend after I graduated from WVU. We've been in Pittsburgh for about a year & a half.

2.  What do you do for a living?

I work as a sales rep for coca-cola. 

3.  How long have you been doing CrossFit?

I've been doing CrossFit for about 7-8 months I think? 

4.  Tell us about your athletic history…

I played soccer basically my entire life up until I graduated from high school. I was also a cheerleader and very active in tumbling/gymnastics. In high school, I was a member of the dance team as well. I tried to stay as active as possible after that and throughout college.

5.  What brought you to CrossFit St. Clair?

Not knowing anyone in Pittsburgh, my boyfriend and I just googled gyms close to our house and came across St. Clair Fitness. After the new box was renovated, I could really see what was going on in there and knew I had to sign up asap! 

6.  What are you currently working on in the gym?  (Strength/PR/Endurance, anything!)

Most of all, I'm trying to get my diet on track so I can get the best results possible from the workouts. Also, endurance. 

7.  Favorite food?
I love breakfast. I basically love all food :)

8.  Favorite movie?
The breakfast club (Anything by John Hughes) Jaws. Jurassic Park. The Nightmare Before Christmas.

9.  Favorite book? 
Definitely ALL of the Harry Potter books. I'm obsessed and not ashamed.

10.  Favorite music to work out to?
Anything I can dance to. I like to keep things up beat and fun!

11.  When you aren’t working or working out, where can we find you?

You can find me home with my two dogs or out and about somewhere. I like to explore - oh and I love to knit. So you can find me doing that as well.

12.  How has CrossFit changed you?

CrossFit has changed me in so many ways. I've realized that my body can do things I never thought it could. I feel so much stronger physically and mentally. For the first time in a long time I feel like I can actually reach the goals I set for myself.

13.  What do you love most about CrossFit St. Clair?

The people, no question. I was so nervous when I was taking intro classes and even more nervous when I took my first class. I kept thinking people were going to be wondering, "what the heck is this girl doing here?", but everyone was so nice and welcoming. I am still kind of shy, but everyone is fantastic. I've never been a part of something where I can be the last one to finish and everyone is cheering me on the hardest. I feel like I have friends here.

14.  What 3 words would people use to describe you?

Funny, honest, positive.

15.  Any mantra, favorite quote, or words to live by?

"Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway."
