Member Spotlight: Kristen Patcher

Welcome back to our second blog, featuring Super Woman Extraordinaire, Kristen Patcher.  Kristen and her husband Mike are forces to be reckoned with inside and outside of the gym; luckily, they have an adorable toddler who keeps them on their toes.

Hey there!  Where are you from?

Pittsburgh born and bred. I grew up in the city and now live in Bethel Park.

What do you do for a living?

I'm an accountant.

How long have you been doing CrossFit?

About a year and a half.

Tell us about your athletic history…

I played volleyball in high school and was a cheerleader. After college, I started running and ran several 5ks and a half-marathon.

What brought you to CrossFit St. Clair?

My first CrossFit gym closed.

What are you currently working on in the gym?

I just got my first pull-up! So now I would like to start working on getting my first handstand push-up.

Favorite food?

Cake. Can I say that in a CrossFit interview?
(Absolutely.  You get down with your bad self.)

Favorite movie?

I watch a lot of Disney movies with my toddler. Currently, we are on a Little Mermaid and Frozen binge. I also love anything funny, especially Bridesmaids, Mean Girls, and Pitch Perfect.

Favorite book?

Clifford the Big Red Dog

Favorite music to work out to?

Anything I danced to at a college party! (90s/2000s pop & hip-hop)

When you aren’t working or working out, where can we find you?

Spending time with my family... or sleeping.

How has CrossFit changed you?

CrossFit has allowed me to do things that I never thought would be possible. It has made me stronger both physically and mentally.

What do you love most about CrossFit St. Clair?

I love our community! It is nice being able to workout with so many friendly faces (and my husband!). The coaches are amazing and really go out of their way to help you achieve your goals. I really appreciate the child care, also! :)

What 3 words would people use to describe you?

Smart, strong, independent.

Any mantra, favorite quote, or words to live by?

Believe you can, and you're halfway there. - Theodore Roosevelt

Huge thank you to Kristen for taking time our of her schedule to chat with us - and next time you see her, remember you can DEFINITELY sit with her, and maybe send her four Candy Cane Grams so she knows how much you love and admire her.  You go, Kristen Patcher!

Thank you to Aaron Spang for the photographs from the Great Lakes Competition, in which Kristen competed!
